More than 1,000 supported prostate cancer screening slots – Men are beginning to take a proactive approach to their health.
A prostate cancer screening program for men aged 50 and above is currently being implemented with 1,000 cost-supported screening slots, receiving positive attention from the community.
During the first days of the program, many participants shared that they had experienced lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) for a long time but had never undergone specialized examinations before.
Common symptoms include:
• Frequent nighttime urination
• Difficulty urinating or weak urine flow
• A feeling of incomplete bladder emptying
However, most participants believed these were simply “signs of aging” and had never undergone PSA testing or prostate ultrasound evaluations.
According to international medical data, prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, with the risk increasing significantly after the age of 50. Although many cases progress slowly, some forms of the disease can develop rapidly and cause serious health consequences if detected late.
This screening program goes beyond PSA testing and also includes:
• Symptom assessment using the IPSS questionnaire
• Ultrasound examination of the urinary system and prostate through the abdominal wall
• Specialist consultation to help distinguish LUTS caused by BPH from potential cancer risks
• Electronic data recording for long-term monitoring
The screening costs are being supported by the organizing units for registered participants, helping reduce financial barriers — one of the most common reasons many men delay routine screening.
Taking the initiative to get screened does not mean a disease has been confirmed.
It is a necessary step in protecting long-term health for oneself and one’s family.
